Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church & School
6840 N. 107th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53224             Birthplace of the Wisconsin Synod

This building was our church building until 1977 when the new church was dedicated. It still stands on the property and serves as the home of the WELS Historical Institute.
We are constantly looking for items from Salem's past to include in the Salem archives, especially missing photographs from our 1947 Centennial booklet and confirmation photos prior to 1949. For more information, contact the Archivist.

History of Salem

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8).

From its humble beginnings over 150 years ago, to its present form today, God has certainly made all grace abound to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Through divine providence, through divine guidance, and through the divine tools of Word and Sacrament, God has showered his grace on Salem congregation.
